Yorkshire to be remodeled for Tour de France

By admin · On January 17, 2013

Sources close to the English country of Yorkshire have revealed shocking detail of some preparations necessary prior to the Tour de France visiting this scenic part of Northern London.

It is expected that the leader of the successful bid will announce that hedgerows along the entire route will be removed in order to improve the view from TV motorcycles and also to introduce more of a cross-wind element.

In his speech on January 17th, head of the bid Gary Verity will outline how more value can be added to the scenery if the troublesome hedgerows containing valuable wildlife are eliminated. Much of the English rural road network is bordered by native shrubs and trees and whilst providing a safe haven for wildlife, the greenery was a stumbling block to the bid

“The ASO are insistent that fields of sunflowers and horses galloping across open land be incorporated into the Tour experience. We had looked at moving the hedges back 76 metres from the road, but then decided to use the wood for two unique projects. The first is to fuel biomass helicopters, thus countering the environmental impact and secondly we will create little souvenirs of the race. We’re having local artisans carve ‘allez oop t’froomewhippet’ onto blackthorn walking sticks.

Verity went on to add, ‘few races on the continent have to deal with hedges, and we want to give TV audiences a proper view of the view in case the racing is being controlled by SRM data. I also feel that more interest will be added if riders are less sheltered from the Mistral we commonly experience up on la moors.

It has been suggested that a key force in supporting this move came from Surrey County Council who are delighted to have been given an unexpected stage finish in the northern Surrey town of Harrogate.

The Council should replace the hedgerows with barbed wire fences to add another element of suspense.  Especially with journalists in the follow cars now driving on the wrong side.
