Star Tours – Chapter 17

By Rebecca Love · On July 18, 2013

The rebels are attempting to leave the Empire controlled outpost of Ghapp, empty handed – having lost the plans of the TimeWarp device to the Separatist faction of Movistarr.  Realising the rebels are corralled, the Empire forces seize the opportunity to not only attack the alliance, but also to demonstrate the fearsome power of their latest weapon.

The Empire command swiftly issues an evacuation order and clear from the immediate area, before launching a series of TimeWarps, forming a chain blocking the only viable escape route for the rebels.  Initially shocked by the development, further investigation by the rebels shows that the TimeWarps are passable, but only just, and only in single file.  The alliance will have to pick their way through individually, trying not to disturb the position of the TimeWarps less they become unstable and trigger a chain reaction with the potential to decimate the alliance.

To add to the rebel’s desperate situation, conditions on the unpredictable outpost are deteriorating, with a storm blowing in making the going treacherous and changeable.  Each member of the alliance remaining on the planet will have to use all their skills to negotiate the intricate pathway.

Unsurprisingly, the crew of the Millennium Falcon, including Kreuziger and Rogers, are able to navigate the dangerous path with skill and speed, as are many of the Jedi knights and their padawan trainees.  A notable exception is the veteran Jedi Evans, who struggles to maintain his footing, while his padawan Van Garderen performs well.  The Belkins, excellent warriors and fearless on the field of battle, find themselves at the mercy of the conditions and their going slow.  Tragically, Peraud finds himself on the most perilous section of the pathway just as the storm hits.  He loses his footing, and is lost into a TimeWarp, which swallows him.

The Quintana is naturally swift and, as a being of pure energy, able to channel his affinity with the Force to rapidly weave his way through the trail.  Contador Solo and Froome Skyrider are the last to leave the outpost, having seen the rest of the rebels safely off the planet.  Solo quickly makes his way to the waiting Millennium Falcon, his slightly fraught rivalry with Skyrider leading him to time his effort to measure against that of his friend.  To Solo’s visible disappointment, Skyrider reaches the ship in a marginally quicker time, having taken a slightly different route to Solo through a tricky patch of TimeWarps.

Reconvened upon the Millennium Falcon, the Jedi council and rebel alliance leaders call an emergency conference to discuss the events, and try to establish any possible way of defeating this terrifying weapon…
