Becca confirms additional Leopard reorganization plans

By admin · On September 7, 2011

After announcing there was “Nothing American” about  RadioShack-Nissan-Trek Professional Cycling Team (Team Leopard, license holder), during yesterday’s press conference with RTL-TV, a Luxembourgish media outlet, owner Flavio Becca continued to unfold his plans to make over Leopard utilizing “one or two” Team Radioshack parts.

Becca revealed in a closed-door meeting with Cyclismas.com that the bulk of the marketing efforts by CSE Inc. out of Austin, Texas, would revolve around Leopardstrong T-shirt sales at all American Trek Bicycle retailers, as no one in Europe would ever consider wearing such “dreck.”

“The Americans have demonstrated their complete lack of ability to produce, manage, or execute anything of any worth other than create hype. I felt that T-shirt sales would be the best utilization of their skillsets,” commented Becca.

“Considering the fact they couldn’t even keep their buses running properly throughout this past season certainly demonstrates this,” continued Becca, making reference to a Matthew Busche tweet earlier in the week of another Radio Shack bus breakdown in a year full of challenges for the American team, “I’m really taking a gamble in alienating Mercedes by bringing on Nissan, but I hope that the UCI is happy with me bringing aboard a Chinese company prior to the Tour of Beijing.”

When told that Nissan was actually a Japanese auto company, Becca remained nonplussed, “I am not here to argue geographics, I’m here to demonstrate my commitment to a winning organization that is backed by a world class management team which has proven they can with the Tour de France; they have my complete and utter faith.”

When pressed on what happened with Brian Nygaard, former team manager, whom he gave the same commitment to a scant eight months ago, Becca was blunt in his assessment, “He wore strange shirts and smoked cigars.”

The Luxembourg construction tycoon also confirmed that he planned to bring in Francesco Moser as consultant on Becca’s new bicycle factory, where he and Moser will redesign the Trek team bicycles under a new joint project with Saab entitled “Bicycle Mosaabek Creations.”

“No one pays attention to the fine nuances of a bicycle frame and how it relates to the metal parts that make the bicycle go faster. I plan on changing the industry from a very innovative point of view,” summarized Becca.

He concluded our interview with his thoughts on the team’s newest manager tandem, Dirk Demol and Kim Andersen, who would be replacing the outgoing Johan Bryneel, who had been the team manager at the beginning of the interview. ” I look forward to Dirk and Kim building on the foundation that Johan laid with his mantra of winning at all costs, including his own,” chuckled Becca, “Now, I’m off to Sochi to pick up some bargain-basement real estate deals from my good friend Igor.”
