You're quite right. The UCI need to be taken out of the equation altogether before pro cycling can have anything resembling a truth & reconciliation. Vaughters & AIGCP efforts to start up a breakaway league would have be a massive step in the right direction. Unfortunately, the ASO seem to be locked in a mutual embrace with the UCI that may be impossible to break...just ask Patrice Clerc!

There is only one solution to the cancer of the UCI and Armstrong: the athletes need to claim back their sport from the mob-like organizations that use and abuse people deeply committed to sports for lining their own pockets with advertising and sponsor dollars. The only solution to doping in cycling is for the athletes themselves to stand up against it. This may be an impossible task. For the first time, athletes have a respectable organization on their side, USADA.Will the athletes have the strength and courage to stop their own use and abuse by the power and money that claims to represent them?
